Lets keep crime downBurgulary has come down 55% since 1997 which is great news. However, during different economic times, it is important not to be complacent about burgulary, and the Home Secretary announced in February that she would be developing new work to take pre-emptive action to keep burgulary down.

Public Burgulary Pack

A new burgulary pack has been published to help you take simple preventative steps to protect their homes. The pack can be viewed online at www.homeoffice.gov.uk/secureyourhome. Alternatively, you can order a hard copy by calling 0800 456 1213.

The new pack contains:

  • Guide to home security leaflet
  • Self assessment
  • Keep it safe, keep it hidden, keep it locked advice booklet
  • neighbourhood watch leaflet
  • private sector tenants
  • bogus caller leaflet
  • checklist door hanger
  • policing pledge
  • B & Q voucher (only available in hard copy, not online).

Additionally, there is already significant funding invested in tackling crime through the Area Based Grant, and programme funding in Wales. The Home Office is now investing an additional £15 million in the Securing Homes programme for 2009/2010.
