24th March 2009 We have received information this week from EDF Energy outlining an opportunity for non-profit making or charitable organisations in our constituency to apply for funding towards the cost of renewable energy installations or renewable energy feasibility studies.
The grants are intended to help cover the cost of small scale renewable energy technology including wind turbines, solar panels and ground source heat pumps. Any one project may receive up to £30,000. Support from the fund is generally given to those organisations which best demonstrate their engagement with their 'users' (for example pupils at a school), and so only the organisations themselves can apply. Organisations which qualify for applying are those with a social purpose such as schools, universities and local community buildings such as village halls, museums and churches.
The next funding opportunity closes at the end of August 2009, and we want to urge as many organisations as possible to apply. For full details of the scheme, including application forms and eligibility criteria, please visit www.edfenergy.com/greenfund.
The fund so far has made awards in ecess of £3.7 million to more than 200 community projects, why not be one of them? |
