Glenda Opens Gym for the Elderly

Opening Gym15th September 2010
Glenda had the privilege of opening the Len Williams Court Elders Gym today, and was delighted by the wonderful equipment and the sense of excitement surrounding the new resource.

The gym is a therapeutic facility that enables older members of South Kilburn to exercise, upkeep and improve their health and wellbeing. Glenda cut the ribbon at 11.45 and declared the gym officially open, and then proceeded to try out a special hip swiveller aparatus. All the equipment is specifically designed for pensioners to exercise in private and with dignity, while feeling safe.

Glenda was impressed at "how imaginative and innovative the gym was, and how all the equipment is so emminently useable, and good fun!"

CongrGlenda Gym Equipatulations to the LWC Tenants Association who have raised over £24,000 in two years and given an amazing amount of time and effort to make this dream a reality.

The gym is open to elderly people outside of Len Williams Court, and admission will be based on referrals from local organisation working with older people. Opening hours will be from 10.30 - 11.30 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and users will be allocated a time slot.
