Glenda Condemns Child Trust Fund Cuts

Glenda has attacked the Tory-Lib Dem Government for abolishing the Child Trust Fund. She said "I repeatedly argued during the election campaign that the elderly and the very young would be the first victimrs of the Conservatives' slash and burn approach.

Lid and Barney"I am particularly disappointed that the Liberal Democrats are so enthusiastically supporting the Tories in this attack on families, despite their pre-election promises to stand up for the vulnerable in society.

Queen's park mother Katherine King commented on the Tory-Lib Dem cuts: "there was a time when the idea of a trust fund was the preserve of the very wealthy - but now my daughter has one too. For me, the CTF was about peace of mind and confidence for my daughter's future. No matter how my own personal circumstances change, I now know my daughter will have savings of her own at eighteen.

"The government's initial £250 payment quite literally forced me to open an account, stick the money in and decide how much I add every month. If I have another child there will not be this government incentive to save - I'm sure there will be children missing out on further education as a result".
