4th March
2008
It is now two weeks since the Post Office Ltd announced the closure of 171 post offices across London, three of which are in Hampstead and Highgate. We are strongly apposed to these closures,
particulary in light of a recent sub-post office closure in Haverstock Hill. We really believe that these closures will affect the most vulnerable people in our community, particularly those who
are elderly, disabled or those with young children.
The Post Office have announced a 6-week consultation period (which is half the length of the widely approved consultation period of 12 weeks), so we have only 4 weeks left to make our views
heard. As such, we would like to ask as many of you as possible to complete our survey and return it to us as soon as possible. The more people who write in, the more
weighty we can make our objection to the Post Office Ltd.
Please download the survey here, and then send it back to: Glenda Jackson MP, House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA.
Last week we informed you that we had written to Sally Hopkins, the Senior External Relations Manager for the Post Office, to oppose the closures. We have now had a response to our letter, but we
are not happy that she is doing enough about our views.
