We are absolutely
delighted about Democrat Senator Barack Obama's landslide victory
in yesterday's presidential elections. While the final totals are
yet to be confirmed (awaiting recounts in North Carolina and
Missouri) Obama sailed past the winning post of 270 at 0400
GMT and currently stands at 349 Electoral College votes to
McCain's 162.
In his victory speech to hundreds of thousands of emotional
fans, Obama triumphantly declared "If there is anyone out there who
still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible,
who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our
time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is
your answer,". For Obama's full speech,

John McCain graciously accepted defeat, praising Obama and
urging his supporters that they must work together with Obama to
improve America and get through the financial crisis.
It was a remarkable night with tension, emotions flying high,
and an unprecedented turnout for the vote with around 65% of
Americans voting. Glenda watched with much anticipation and
excitement at the events:
"Barack Obama has not only won, but has inspired us all
to renew our faith in the belief that politics can and should be
motivated and energised by our "better angels". Congratulations to
him and to those millions of Americans who said and meant "Yes we
can!".
