We are pleased to report that Glenda has signed a letter to the
Prime Minister, along with several other MPs, on the issue of
mandatory carbon reporting. The group believe that the government
has weakened an amendment that it accepted in the Lords for
mandatory carbon reporting standards, and that its new proposals do
not reflect the urgency or magnitude of the issue, nor correspond
with their vision for robust and transparent carbon counting under
the Bill.
At present there are widely supported standard and voluntary
initiatives such as the Carbon Disclosure Project, but the
reporting of clear and comparable quantified information on carbon
emissions from the corprate sector remains inconsistent and
variable.
We will keep you up-to-date with the reply which we get from
Gordon Brown. To read the letter in full, please click
